Grand Blanc Little League

Content

Registration for all Spring/Summer Leagues opens December 1st.

Grand Blanc Little League has divisions for all kids from 4 years to 16 years old.  See the 2020 Little League Baseball Age Chart to determine the "Baseball Age" of your child.  All divisions refer to the players "Baseball Age."  Look up and remember your players BBA before going any further!

New for 2020:  Players requesting to "Play-Up" into older divisions will be able to "bump" up one year without having to fill out a "Play-Up Request."  Example - A player born in April 2014 has a baseball age of 6, and would typically play T-ball.  During registration that player will be given the option to play in either T-Ball or Coach Pitch.  It will be up to the players and their families to decide what is best for the player.  Playing in both divisions is not an option.

A few thoughts when deciding whether to move up:

-Players that have a BBA of 6 and have played one year of T-Ball are usually ready for Coach Pitch.
-Players that have a BBA of 7/8 that are new to the game will be perfectly comfortable playing in Coach Pitch without previously playing T-Ball.
-Players that are interested in playing in Rookies should have played at least one year in Coach Pitch.
-Playing in Rookies is not required before moving up into Minors.  Many players play 2 years of Coach Pitch then move up to Minors (and never play in Rookies.)
-Make sure you look at the start dates of the divisions when deciding which one to play in.  Minors and Majors start in April, and the rest of the league starts in May or June.  So if you have a player that is BBA 8, they have the choice to move up to Minors, which starts much earlier that their previous years.

There will be some players BBA 8 that could play Minors in the spring and then go down and play Coach Pitch or Rookies in the summer.  Also, players that are BBA 12 that play Majors in the spring, can also play up to Jr's in the summer (which is very common.)  Both would enjoy the multi-player discount.

Play down requests are rarely granted.  If you have a reason you would like your player to play in a younger division, please make a special request to [email protected] and the board will take it into consideration at the next meeting.
